Stream Titles and Thumbnails That Get Clicks (No BS)
Quick answer (No BS)
Specific beats vague. Use Game/Topic, concrete hook for titles. Thumbnails need a readable face or subject at phone size and fewer than five words of text. Test weekly; kill formats that never get clicks.
Title formula that works small
[Game or Topic], [specific outcome or curiosity]
- Good: “Valorant, learning Reyna from Iron, no smurfing”
- Good: “Cozy building, finishing the harbor before reset”
- Weak: “Chill vibes come hang” (says nothing)
- Weak: ALL CAPS CLICKBAIT that the VOD cannot deliver
If people click and leave in 20 seconds, the title lied. Fix packaging and the open, see first 60 seconds.
Thumbnail / preview rules
- Readable on a phone: big subject, high contrast, little text.
- Face helps for personality streams; gameplay still needs a clear focal point.
- Avoid cluttered overlays baked into the preview.
- Match the title promise, no random meme that has nothing to do with tonight.
Weekly packaging review
- List last week’s titles and roughly how they performed (impressions/CTR if you have them).
- Keep the top pattern; rewrite the bottom two styles.
- One A/B test only (title or thumbnail), not both at once.
